What we see

Common problems we're called for

Failed pressure reducing valve

PRVs wear out and quietly strangle the whole house. A straightforward replacement restores what you'd forgotten the shower could do.

Corroded galvanised mains

Old galv pipe rusts from the inside until the bore is a fraction of its size — the classic cause in older Peninsula homes.

One fixture, not the house

If it's just one tap or the shower, it's usually aerators, filters or the tapware itself — a small job.

Tank water pump problems

On rural and semi-rural blocks: pumps, pressure switches, filters and air-locked lines. We service the lot.

How we work

Straight answers, done properly

The cause is usually one of a handful of things: a failing pressure reducing valve, a corroded old galvanised property main slowly choking itself shut, blocked filters or aerators, or on tank-water properties, a pump or pressure switch on the way out. The diagnosis matters, because the fixes are very different jobs.

Where the property main is the culprit — extremely common in homes from the 60s and 70s — we renew it in copper or PEX from the meter to the house. It's a bigger job, but it fixes pressure permanently and usually improves water quality at the same time.

Questions

Low Water Pressure — FAQs

Why is pressure worse when two things run at once?
That's the signature of a restricted supply — usually the PRV or a corroded main. The system can't deliver volume, so everything shares a trickle.
Is renewing the water main a huge job?
It's a day or so for most homes, trenching from meter to house — and it permanently ends the problem. Clear pricing before work begins, and we reinstate as we go.
We're on tanks and the pressure surges and drops — what is it?
Usually the pressure switch or a waterlogged pressure tank on the pump system. Both are serviceable — no need to put up with the shower pulsing.
